Every day we wake up and put on our clothes. We spend the next however many hours of the day working, walking around, and learning. And when all is said and done we go back home to unwind before dozing off into a restless slumber filled with dreams that are evocative in their familiarity but repulsive in their banality.

Every day there are people who refuse to work for someone else, selling products or services instead while taking ownership of their time. They often find themselves snubbed by society as frivolous dreamers, spending their days without earning an honest dollar because they have other plans for themselves- plans which cannot be realized if they are confined to a mundane lifestyle consisting only of the endless rat race.

But what is the point of it all? What is the meaning of life when one adheres to a monotonous 9-5 job, walking in lockstep with everyone else without aim or purpose other than to simply be a cog in a machine that has been grinding for centuries?

It is that question that has haunted humanity since its birth. It is that riddle that hides behind every mystery and enigma. The answer can only ever be provided by yourself. Follow others and you will never find satisfaction – only fleeting moments of pleasure overshadowed by your inherent apathy from not choosing your own path.

The choice before us now is simple: either succumb to the pressures of society, never truly living as you silently acknowledge your death while waiting for the time to come, or continue towards a future filled with promise and potential.

What is the net worth of a man who has spent his entire life working for others? What about one who has chosen not to work at all? The answer is simple- it depends on the quality of their choices. Make good ones and you will have a net positive worth, while bad ones will reduce that value exponentially until there is little left but rubble from where once stood golden monuments erected in your honor.

A choice must be made each day: either devote yourself to your job so you can pay bills and buy things, or spend time building an empire within yourself by developing skills and virtues which will allow you to create without needing outside help.

Choose carefully- the world is an unforgiving place, and while you may have the time to correct your mistakes it will not wait forever. Success comes to those who are prepared to take it while failure only ever knocks once before becoming forgotten amongst the sands of history.

There are no easy answers or simple solutions- there is only this moment in time where everything hangs in the balance between being shaped by other people’s hands or being crafted with your own two hands into something which can be truly called your own.

The choice is yours because if you do not choose then that too is a choice- one just as valid as any other even if society has decided what must be done for all who follow in its wake. You alone decide your fate by carving out what will become of yourself, and what will be remembered as your legacy.

The future is unwritten; it can be whatever you want it to be if only you choose to make the effort required for such a task. You owe that much to yourself, and should not allow society to dictate what you should or should not do- lest one day we come full circle back to where we are now, destined once more for either success or failure depending on who’s perspective one chooses to take.

But isn’t conformity easier? Wouldn’t life be easier if one didn’t have to think about what must be done every single day? The answer is yes because these problems would already have been solved by society long ago so that everybody could live their lives without ever needing to concern themselves with such things.
